Nonlinear Algebra People - 2019

Lorenzo Venturello

August 23, 2019

Lorenzo Venturello is a postdoctoral researcher in the Nonlinear Algebra research group at the MPI MiS. He obtained his PhD at the Universität Osnabrück under the supervision of Martina Juhnke-Kubitzke.

His research interest is broadly in geometric and topological combinatorics. Topics here vary from triangulations and number of faces of manifolds to decompositions of simplicial complexes, polytopes, and matroids. In particular, he is fascinated by problems which can be tackled with tools from commutative algebra. During his stay at the MPI, he plans to learn more on applied algebraic geometry and optimization.

Outside the math world he enjoys (European) football, playing guitar and traveling.
