Oguzhan Yürük is a postdoc in a Math+ research group led by Michael Joswig, Marta Panizzut, and Bernd Sturmfels at the TU Berlin. He received his PhD in 2021 at the TU Braunschweig under the supervision of Timo de Wolff.
Oguzhan is a mathematician by education who appreciates the harmony and beauty in mathematics. In particular he is interested in nonnegativity of real polynomials and polyhedral geometry. He also thinks that mathematics is a strong tool for applications in sciences, and his research is directed towards the applications of nonlinear algebra in biology.
Aside from Mathematics, Oguzhan likes to spend his time with sports, books and video/tabletop games. He particularly enjoys calisthenic and HIIT workouts, as well as bouldering and biking. His favorite literature genre is fantasy fiction, and his favorite authors are Sir J.R.R. Tolkien and Sir Terry Pratchett. As a fantasy fiction fan, he also enjoys FRP games and various MMORPGs.
