Paul Vater

Paul Vater is a PhD student at the MPI MiS Leipzig since January 2020 and part of the group on mathematical software under the supervision of Michael Joswig, as well as an active developer of the mathematical software system Polymake.
He is interested in discrete geometry, and its connections to other areas of mathematics such as algebraic geometry or topology. In particular this includes tropical geometry and patchworking. Furthermore, he is interested in computational problems and mathematical software.
In his free time Paul enjoys sports such as soccer and various combat sports, chess, and pizza.
