My name is Claudia Yun and I am a postdoc at MPI MiS. I received my Ph.D. from Brown University under the supervision of Melody Chan.
I am interested in combinatorial algebraic geometry and combinatorial topology. One of my favorite scenarios is when a group acts on a combinatorially defined space, for example, the action of the symmetric group on the tropical moduli space of n-marked genus-g curves induced by permuting markings.
At MPI, I am in the Math Software group led by Michael Joswig. I hope to learn computational methods in tropical geometry and combinatorial topology, and develop and implement new ones, particularly those related to discrete Morse Theory. I am also looking to expand my interests and to collaborate with scientists from different math backgrounds.
In my free time, I like to rock climb, play the piano and the drums, play video games, or read a good book. I love spending time with my cat Figaro. I have a website, and more recently I started a travel blog.
