Lisa Seccia

I am Lisa Seccia, and I am a postdoc in the Nonlinear Algebra group at the MPI MiS in Leipzig. I got my PhD from the University of Genoa in 2021 under the supervision of Matteo Varbaro.

I am interested in commutative algebra in a broad sense. My research delves into a range of topics, spanning determinantal ideals, Gröbner bases, Frobenius singularities in characteristic p, and combinatorial commutative algebra. Ideals defined by minors of a matrix are among my favorite objects to study since they arise naturally in many different contexts. For instance, here at the MPI MiS, I am learning how these ideals can often be used to describe and investigate statistical models.
