Information Geometry and its Applications III

August 02 - 06, 2010
Max-Planck-Institut für Mathematik in den Naturwissenschaften, Leipzig
The third conference on Information Geometry and its Applications will be held on August 2-6, 2010, at the University of Leipzig in Germany. It is organized by the Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences, the Centro "Vito Volterra" and the SEFEMEQ Department of the University of Rome "Tor Vergata", the Mathematical Science Program at RIKEN, Japan, and the Institute of Information Theory and Automation, Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. The first two conferences took place in Pescara, Italy (IGAIA1, 2002) and in Tokio, Japan (IGAIA2, 2005).

The conference is taking place and is financially supported within the Research Cooperation between the Max Planck Society and RIKEN (Institute of Physical and Chemical Research).
Further financial support is due to the Italian Programme PRIN-MIUR "Quantum Probability and Applications".

The aim of the conference is to highlight recent developments within the field of information geometry and to identify new directions of research. To this end, the conference will bring together leading experts in the field. It will consist of invited talks and poster sessions representing theoretical work as well as work within one of the many application fields where information geometry plays a role. In particular, the conference will address, among others, the following topics:

Theory
1. foundational geometric structures for information geometry
2. infinite-dimensional information geometry
3. non-commutative information geometry
4. relation between information geometry and algebraic statistics
5. statistical inference

Application fields
6. neural networks
7. cognitive systems
8. computational and systems biology
9. mathematical finance
10. statistical mechanics
11. quantum information and quantum statistics
12. string theory and cosmology
13. applications to statistical modelling

If you are interested in presenting a poster please submit an abstract to IGAIA3 (at) mis.mpg.de by June 15, 2010. You will be informed about the outcome of the reviewing process by June 30, 2010.
