Guided tours

On Wednesday afternoon we invite you to take part in one of the guided tours through Leipzig. The tours are starting at 2:30 PM from the Leibniz statue in the inner courtyard of the University:

Tour 1: Leipzig - City of Music - Guided tour around the Music Trail
Names of great composers and musicians such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Robert Schumann or Richard Wagner are inseparably linked with Leipzig. Music history was written in Leipzig and can be traced in authentic places like the world-wide only Mendelssohn House or St. Thomas Church. The musical journey also informs you about the cultural centres, the Gewandhaus and the Opera.

Tour 2: In the Footsteps of the Peaceful Revolution
Monday: Revolution! Leipzig and a moment of world history. On 9 November 1989 the Berlin Wall fell! What happened in Berlin – and moved the world – began in Leipzig. Who were the people that brought a dictatorship to its knees with a peaceful protest? What were the causes of the end of the first ‘workers’ and farmers’ state on German soil’ – what was it in fact? At the original locations of historic events we follow in the footsteps of the demonstrators on their way to the Peaceful Revolution of 1989.

Both tours are ending at Nikolai church where you will have the opportunity to attend a short organ concert and a prayer.
