Reading Group on Real Algebraic Geometry
July 03 - 07, 2017
Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences
The aim of the workshop is to bring together young researchers interested in different branches of real algebraic geometry. Possible topics include, but are not limited to, the following: topology and moduli of real varieties, real enumerative geometry, real algebra, sum of squares and applications to optimization. We will select some possible topics for a talk and participants should volunteer for giving one of those. The modus operandi of the "Arbeitsgemeinschaft Deninger-Faltings" in Oberwolfach serves as a model.
There will be introductory talks on:
- Topology of Real Algebraic Varieties by Arthur Renaudineau (Universität Tübingen)
- Convex Algebraic Geometry by Cynthia Vinzant (North Carolina State University)
- Random Real Algebraic Geometry by Paul Breiding (Technische Universität Berlin)
Please see our list of proposed topics for a lecture with references. In your registration please decide which topic you prefer.
