MiS Preprint Repository

We have decided to discontinue the publication of preprints on our preprint server as of 1 March 2024. The publication culture within mathematics has changed so much due to the rise of repositories such as ArXiV (www.arxiv.org) that we are encouraging all institute members to make their preprints available there. An institute's repository in its previous form is, therefore, unnecessary. The preprints published to date will remain available here, but we will not add any new preprints here.

Least-squares hp/spectral element method for elliptic problems

Kishore Kumar Naraparaju and G. Naga Raju

Abstract

The solution of elliptic boundary value problems often leads to singularities due to non-smoothness of the domains on which the problem is posed. This paper studies the performance of the nonconforming hp/spectral element method for elliptic problems on non smooth domains. This paper deals with monotone singularities of type $r^{\alpha}$ and $r^{\alpha}log^{\delta}r$ as well as the oscillating singularities of type $r^{\alpha}sin(\epsilon\log r).$
