Analytical and Simulation Results for Biological Neural Networks

Abstract

We consider some general anatomical and physiological properties of brain structures including various kinds of solitary wave phenomena. Continuum models such as those of Wilson and Cowan are reviewed together with a simplified approach using connectivity and transfer functions. General stochastic models of the diffusion kind are explored for the characterization of neuronal and network activity which gives some analytical results.

Finally,time permitting, we consider dopaminergic influences on prefrontal cortex and recently developed models of working memory.
