Numerical Simulation of Chalcopyrite Disease within Sphalerite

Chalcopyrite disease within sphalerite is a problem of high interest for geologists and mineralogists. After explaining the physical background, two approaches are presented to describe the process. The first is based on Landau theory, in the second it is tried to compute the actual free energies of the physical phenomenon and make simulations closer to reality. For both models, numerical simulations are done and the results are compared.
