Tensors: Algebra meets Numerics
Higher-order tensors and their low-rank decomposition have been a classical subject in algebraic geometry, and have found various applications in signal separation and higher-order statistics. In recent years, tensor decompositions based on hierarchical subspace representations and tree tensor networks have also emerged as a powerful tool to address high-dimensional problems in scientific computing. This meeting intends to foster the link between algebra and numerics by discussing latest results on the theoretical foundations of tensors, their use in practical computations, and the interplay between the fields.
