My name is Victoria Schleis. Currently, I am a PhD student of Hannah Markwig in Tübingen, Germany..
My research interests lie in combinatorial algebraic geometry and center around tropical geometry. In particular, I am interested in the relationships between tropical geometry, Berkovich geometry and Hurwitz theory.
I spent my visit in March 2022 discussing tropical geometry, projections, planarity and Hurwitz numbers. Together with a group of people in the Nonlinear Algebra group, I am working on understanding plane Hurwitz numbers to further our knowledge on Hurwitz spaces.
Besides math, I like swimming, dancing and playing board games with friends.
