Mumford-Shah functional as $\Gamma$-limit of discrete Perona-Malik energies

Abstract

We prove that a suitable rescaling of biased Perona-Malik energies, defined in the discrete setting, $\Gamma$-converges to an anisotropic version of the Mumford-Shah functional. Numerical results are discussed.
