Index estimates for sequences of \(alpha\)-harmonic maps

We study the limiting behavior of the index and the nullity of sequences of $\alpha$-harmonic maps from a two-dimensional Riemann surface into a general target manifold. We show upper and lower bounds for the index of the sequence in terms of the index of the so called bubble limit.
