Lectures on Webs III

  • Daniel Douglas (MPI MiS, Leipzig)
E2 10 (Leon-Lichtenstein)

Abstract

Webs are graph-like objects appearing at the intersection of low dimensional geometry & topology, combinatorics, representation theory, and mathematical physics. These lectures will introduce webs and some of the tantalizing questions about them. We will focus on the mathematics related to the Lie group $SL(n)$ of n-by-n matrices with determinant one, putting emphasis on the cases n=2 and n=3. No prerequisites are expected.
