Abstract

The goal of this talk is to present tiling billiards and interval exchange transformations.

A tiling billiard is a dynamical system whose trajectories are in the broken lines in the Euclidean plane. There are studied since about a decade, motivated by metamaterials with negative index of refraction. I will give an overview of what we know about tiling billiards.

An IET is a map defined on an interval, which is piecewise a translation. I will explain how, in certain cases, we can study a tiling billiards with an IET with flips.
