Welcome to the new Alexander von Humboldt Professor Sayan Mukherjee

We are happy and proud to welcome Sayan Mukherjee as an Alexander von Humboldt Professor at the University of Leipzig and as a Max Planck fellow at our institute. The mathematician, statistician, and computer scientist is a leading expert in the field of artificial intelligence. With his group at MPI MiS, he will focus on the mathematical and statistical analysis of biological data that could open up new avenues in precision medicine.
Starting in June, he will give a mini-course on “A Variational Formulation of Updating Beliefs and Uncertainty” as part of the IMPRS Ringvorlesung.
