Published November 20, 2024

In recognition of her outstanding scientific achievements, our director Anna Wienhard has been appointed an Honorary Professor at the Mathematical Institute of the University of Leipzig.

Anna Wienhard heads the “Geometry, Groups and Dynamics” division at our institute and has been working very successfully with the university for quite some time. Notably, she is deeply committed to doctoral training through the International Max Planck Research School Mathematics in the Sciences, a joint program of Max Planck Institute and the University's Mathematical Institute. Additionally, she is actively involved in teaching, scientific conferences, and collaborative research projects.

"I would like to thank the University of Leipzig for the opportunity to further strengthen our successful collaboration through my honorary professorship. I look forward to bringing in new ideas and continuing to support mutual exchange in research and teaching," said Anna Wienhard.

The certificate of appointment was presented by the Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Computer Science, Prof. Bernd Kirchheim, at last week's Felix Klein Colloquium, a joint event of the Institute of Mathematics and our Max Planck Institute.
