Laura Brustenga i Moncusi

Laura Brustenga i Moncusi is a PhD candidate at Universitat Autonoma de Barcelona, under Prof. Joaquim Roe's supervision. She is visiting Prof. Bernd Sturmfels at MPI MiS for three months.

Laura's research interests lie mostly in Algebraic Geometry. She works on both the abstract and the applied sides of the field. In Barcelona, she studies the geometry of a locally closed subfunctor of the Hilbert functor aiming to obtain sharper upper bounds on the dimension of linear systems of curves, which is quite abstract.

In Leipzig, she is elaborating algorithms to numerically compute the local dimension of algebraic sets.
