Nonlinear Algebra People - 2019

Christian Haase

September 4, 2019

Christian Haase is a professor at Freie Universität Berlin. He is interested in everything that involves polytopes and polynomials such as toric algebra or tropical geometry.

Right now, he tries to link population genetics to tropical geometry, to compute topological invariants of complete intersections in toric varieties and to investigate Hilbert series of alcoved polytopes; all besides being busy preparing an algebraic geometry semester in Berlin.

Over the past decade, he regularly visited MPI MiS. His last stays included NoGAGS and an organizational visit preparing the Chow Lectures 2020 with Mateusz Michalek and Saskia Gutzschebauch.

In a former life, he did some sports. He still likes spending physically active time with family and friends.
