Nonlinear Algebra People - 2021

Alessandro Neri

May 3, 2021

Alessandro Neri is a postdoctoral researcher in the Nonlinear Algebra group at the MPI MiS, since April 2021. Until 2019 he was part of the Applied Algebra group at University of Zurich, where he received the PhD degree under the supervision of Joachim Rosenthal. After that, he had postdoctoral positions at INRIA Saclay and at Technical University of Munich.

His research interests lie in algebraic coding theory and its connections with finite geometry, finite fields and combinatorics. The main topic of his research concerns rank-metric codes, a.k.a. spaces of matrices with special rank properties. More generally, he loves whenever algebra and geometry are used to solve concrete problems.

In his spare time, Alessandro loves playing football, attending live concerts and festivals, and traveling.
