Published Oct 13, 2020

Congratulations to Ivan Yaroslavtsev! His dissertation on Martingales and Stochastic Calculus in Banach Spaces was awarded the Stieltjes Prize for the best mathematical dissertation published in the academic year 2018/2019 in the Netherlands. Ivan Yaroslavtsev received his PhD degree cum laude at the Technical University Delft. He is now working as a postdoc in our research group Stochastic partial differential equations, led by Benjamin Gess. His research is focused on stochastic analysis in Banach spaces, harmonic analysis, and Gaussian measures on infinite-dimensional spaces.

About the Stieltjes Prize

Since 1996, the Stieltjes prize is awarded for the best mathematical thesis defended at a Dutch university. All Dutch dissertations automatically participate in this competition. The Stieltjes prize is named after Thomas Joannes Stieltjes (1856–1895) and is awarded by the Platform Wiskunde Nederland (PWN). The prize is 2,500 euros, made available by the Compositio Mathematica Foundation. The winner gives a lecture during the Dutch Mathematical Congress.

We recommend reading this inspiring portrait of Ivan.
