Professor Dejan Gajic, a collaborator at the Center for Mathematical Physics and our IMPRS, has been awarded a prestigious European Research Council Starting Grant for his research on mathematical theorems related to black holes. Congratulations to him and we are looking forward to an even stronger Center as his exciting research progresses.

Gajic's selection underscores the Center's growing reputation in mathematical physics through its joint initiative with our Institute and Leipzig University. His new research group will develop novel mathematical approaches to the study of fast-spinning “extremal” black holes. This research, at the interface of partial differential equations and theoretical physics, will shed new light on the physics of black holes.
