We are proud to introduce the newly elected PhD representatives at our Institute. Congratulations to Nicolas Weiss, Nat Kendal-Freedman, and Felix Lotter!
They will be the voice of the PhD community over the coming year, representing your interests, sharing fresh ideas, and helping to shape institute life beyond research. “We're looking forward to a year of fun events which we hope will connect PhD students across all the research groups,“ they said.
As your contacts for all PhD-related topics, feel free to reach out to them with any questions, concerns, or suggestions.
Thanks to everyone who participated in the election.
Nicolas Weiss is part of the Algebraic Analysis group of Anna-Laura Sattelberger. He is interested in the interplay of analytic, algebraic and topological phenomena, in particular in describing differential equations and their solutions. He also represents our institute in the Max Planck Society’s PhD network .
Nat Kendal-Freedman is from Anna Wienhard's group on Geometry, Groups, and Dynamics. They are particularly drawn topics in the intersection of different areas of mathematics; their research includes aspects of geometric group theory, hyperbolic geometry, and probability.
Felix Lotter is a PhD student in the Nonlinear Algebra group of Bernd Sturmfels. His main interests lie in Algebraic Geometry and its applications. Felix's research focuses on the algebraic and geometric study of path signature tensors, exploring connections to stochastic analysis, machine learning, physics and number theory. Besides of math he has a big passion for music. He loves to play the piano and often is found at the Gewandhaus or the opera.
