Two of our former postdocs are now pursuing their scientific careers at renowned French universities.
Marie Trin works as Maîtresse de conférences (associate professor) at the Université de Bourgogne Europe in Dijon, while Anna Roig Sanchis holds the same position at the Université Côte d’Azur in Nice. We are very proud of this achievement and wish them every success in their new roles!
Congratulations to Jiajun Shi on the successful completion of his dissertation, which explores geodesic currents as a powerful framework for encoding and comparing geometric information on surfaces. We wish him all the best for his upcoming postdoctoral position at Seoul National University in South Korea!
Science meets creativity. Join us for the Max Planck Science Festival on September 5 at Heiter bis Wolkig, where art, science, and music come together. Enjoy inspiring talks, science comics, hands-on activities, and a diverse line-up of music acts – all in a relaxed festival atmosphere.
Our postdoctoral researcher Pengfei Huang has been appointed an Zhicheng Young Professor / Associate Professor at the School of Mathematics at Nanjing University, China.
We wish you all the very best and every success!
We are pleased to share that our director Anna Wienhard is part of the newly launched Simons Collaboration on Discrete Subgroups of Lie Groups, bringing together representation theory, geometry and probability theory to reveal new insights into the mathematical structures.
The first Summer School of the Simons Collaboration will be hosted at our institute in May 2027.
The International Congress of Mathematicians (ICM) 2026 opens today in Philadelphia – bringing together the world's leading mathematicians for one of the most prestigious events in the field. We are proud to be part of this global gathering with contributions to the scientific program, an international film premiere, and an exhibition booth.
Research at MPI MiS is as diverse and multifaceted as the people who pursue it. Our Math Planck People portrait series gives a face to our research and introduces the personalities that make up our institute - our scientists & staff. Meet our brilliant minds!
