Sharing the Academy's belief that developing nations can build the knowledge and skills needed to tackle challenges such as hunger, disease, and poverty through strength in science and engineering, she uses her expertise to foster scientific progress in these countries.
TWAS boasts a membership of over 1,400 elected fellows, including some of the world’s most distinguished scientists and engineers from 112 countries. Among them are 13 Nobel laureates. Approximately 84 percent of the fellows come from developing nations, while the remaining scientists are from industrialized countries whose research has a significant impact on the Global South. These fellows are the foundation for all of the Academy's work.
