A coarsening model with local interactions
We consider particles on an infinite one-dimensional lattice whose evolution is governed by a discretization of a backward nonlinear diffusion equation. Such a system is one of the simplest examples of an infinite coarsening system with local interactions.
In this talk I will show how to prove global existence of solutions under a density assumption on the initial data, give examples of blow-up and non-uniqueness and discuss different coarsening scenarios.
