2nd Algebraic Statistics Day

November 10, 2017
Max Planck Institute for Mathematics in the Sciences

This one-day workshop is the second in a series of Algebraic Statistics Days organised by members of the Non-Linear Algebra research group. A first very successful event in August introduced some basic concepts in both algebra and statistics, showing that exponential models 'are' toric varieties and drawing links between the calculation of Groebner bases and maximum likelihood estimation. Lecture notes and abstracts are available. This second event will now use this language to discuss some current research. Details will follow shortly.
